The meeting was called to order by CJT Committee Co-Chair, Karen Gidderon at 6:11 pm.
There were a lot of changes in the last month. The Christmas Joy Telethon (previously known as Christmas Angel Telethon) venue was changed from The Longview Eagles Nest to The Electric Bean. Following the change in venue, The Salvation Army asked that we not facilitate the telethon for them anymore so we needed to change the name of the event. Our event will now be called Christmas Joy Telethon and all marketing on the website, short of old meeting minutes and event write-ups, mentioning The Salvation Army have been removed, as well as the shield and their logo.

New Beneficiary:
It was suggested by CJT Committee Co-Chair, Linda Haarstad that Christmas Joy Telethon benefit Living Ministries & Affiliate Ministries. Summer Clemenson mentioned Jacob Beerman’s ministry that he calls Canz4Toys. Jacob is a local 5th grader that collects cans and scrap metal and broken appliances. He and his dad fix the appliances and the proceeds from sale of items and money from recycling are used to buy Christmas presents for local families. Last year he helped 20 families and also bought presents for Community House on Broadway.
It was agreed unanimously by all that we should include a can drive into our event to bless Canz4Toys. Money donated to the event will be used to fund Living Ministries, Hearts For Homeless and Angel Wings Rescue’s ministries.
Date & Time:
We will still hold the event on Friday December 13, 2013. We decided to make it a 7 hour event instead of 24 hours. Event will be from 5 pm to 2 am.
Set up will start at 1 pm on 12-13-13. Tear down will follow directly after the event. We want to make sure The Electric Bean will be spick and span for business the next morning.
Karen said she is already trying to contact the manager, Jessica, at The Electric Bean to make sure that the change in beneficiary is acceptable since our agreement originally included benefits for The Salvation Army.

Longview Christmas Parade
Tom was contacted by Arleen Hubble to see if we wanted to be in the Christmas Parade this year. Summer suggested that we table this idea until our next meeting. We should double check with The Electric Bean to see if they are still interested in being part of this event. Also, although we can use the trailer that belongs to Longview Lions for our float, we can only decorate it that day and must have it cleaned that night…we would like to have a little more freedom than that so we can take our time. We need to see if we can locate another option.
Next meeting will be held on Monday September 23, 2013 at The Electric Bean; 946 Washington Way, Longview at 6 pm. Questions should be directed to call 360-610-7778 or visit ChristmasJoyTelethon.com.
Meeting was adjourned around 7 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Summer Clemenson
